Scout in Meet the SandvichOh God... OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! My blood! He- HE PUNCHED OUT ALL MY BLOOD!
Bleed or Bleeding is a damage-over-time (DOT) effect on a player that is caused by specific weapons. If a player is struck with a bleed-causing weapon, they will start taking 4 damage per tick or 8 damage per second until the effect ends, is cured or the victim dies. It is similar to afterburn except it cannot be cured by water or with a compression blast. Other than that the methods for curing bleed are the same as afterburn, those being health packs,
When a player is inflicted with bleed, their screen slowly flashes with a red hue, a red blood drop will appear on their HUD, and to other players the class will give off blood particle effects and flinch constantly.
Bleed duration varies from source to source, and the duration does not extend with repeated hits, similarly to afterburn. However unlike afterburn the damages does stack if a player is struck with multiple bleed damage sources.
Although bleed cannot crit on it's own, it can do mini-crit damage if the target is under a mini-crit debuff such as mark-for-death, or if the attacker is mini-crit boosted, such as from the Civilian.
Bleed-inducing weapons
The following weapons induce bleed on another player.
Name | Picture | Class | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Fishwhacker | Sniper | The Fishwhacker causes 2 seconds of bleed on hit. |
Strategy
Currently the only weapon to inflict bleed is the Fishwhacker, used by the Sniper. Bleed can be thought of as similar to afterburn, but does more damage (8dps vs 6dps) and makes the target less obvious. The bleed is useful for tracking enemy Spies, as the bleed will reveal themselves even while cloaked.
