The Death & Taxes update was the first major update for Team Fortress 2 Classic.
Death & Taxes was the first major update patch for TF2C that added new weapons, 2 new gamemodes, 2 new teams, another batch of achievements and another batch of new maps, along with returning ones from Team Fortress 2.
The focus of the update was to release cut content from the older versions of Team Fortress 2. On the 1st day was the cut VIP gamemode originally in Team Fortress Classic along with the cut class for it the Civilian. The Death & Taxes page officially began on July 4th, 2020, as announced on the | Team Fortress 2 Classic Website.
- Day 1: Introduced the VIP gamemode, Civilian class, and maps Mineside, Harbor and Trainyard.
- Day 2: Weapons The Nailgun, The RPG, The Dynamite Pack, The Tranquilizer Gun and The Fishwhacker were re-introduced and weapons The Hunting Revolver, The Mine Layer, The Shock Therapy and The Coilgun were announced.
- Day 3: New gamemode Domination introduced along with 2 maps for it Oilcanyon, Hydro as well as Arena map Flask. Added 2 new teams YLW and GRN.
- Day 4: Announced 6 returning weapons from Team Fortress 2, The Kritzkrieg, The Überspritze, TheHuntsman, The Flaregun, The Gunboats and The Sandvich. Introduced the Death & Taxes achievement pack.
