The L'escampette is a watch for the Spy. It resembles a stopwatch that is held rather than worn on the wrist.

Compared to the Invis Watch, the L'escampette increases the speed of it's user while cloaked at the cost of a faster cloak drain rate. This tradeoff allows the Spy to move into position or escape a sticky situation at great speed. However, the Spy must not move predictably, as any damage dealt while invisible will drain 15% of his cloak. Picking up ammo crates while cloaked will refill the meter.

Trivia

• This weapon bears a resemblance to live TF2's Dead Ringer, as they are both held watches that increase the speed of wearer, but unlike the Dead Ringer it does not provide a damage resistance or status effect removal, making it more balanced and not a crutch for bad spies.
• The word "escampette" comes from the old fashioned French idiom "prendre la poudre d'escampette" ("to take the powder of 'escampette'"), which means "to escape". The word itself isn't really used in any other context in the language, and can be roughly translated to "little escape" or "little getaway".
